Kilsyth Kirk Session Minutes ref- CH2/216/1

1705 July 20th. Compeared before the Minister and Elders of the Kirk Session Marcus Hogg accused of cursing and swearing. Witnesses were called but Marcus objected to one witness, WALTER NAPER saying they were at variance and
that Walter Naper had given him great provocation to Curse, if he, Marcus, had done it. The witness John Leckie declared he had heard Marcus wish god might damne himself if Walter Naper was not a greater knave than he.



1706 August 21st. WALTER NAPIER witness to the uncleanness between Alexander Hamilton and Jean Mitchell. WALTER NAPER aged 30 years unmarried, purged and sworn, deponed negative and denied he knew of any guilt between the parties
concerned.

1730 January 4th. Case of fornication concerning John Sword and Christian Robison. WALTER NAPIER and HELEN BELL were called as witnesses. "WALTER NAPIER, a married man aged 54 years, purged of malice and solemnly sworn, declares he has
seen them in company twice in his house, once in the cellar and once in the chamber about four years ago.... that he never saw nor suspec ed any scandalous behaviour between them".
