Solemn Requiem Offered for Charles W. Napier
Solemn Funeral Mass for Charles W. Napier, active Catholic layman, was offered in St. Thomas More Church, Thursday, Sept. 24. Mr. Napier, 69, of 210 Council Rock Ave., Brighton, died of a heart attack Sept. 21, 1964 in Strong Memorial
Hospital.
Solemn Requiem Mass was celebrate by Rt. Rev. Msgr. Leslie G. Whalen assisted by Rev. Joseph Maloney, deason and Rev. James Wolfe, subdeacon. Also in the sanctuary were the Reverend Father Albert J. Geiger, Robert Meng, Cyril Catrer, C.S.B.
and John Spratt, C.S.B.
Honorary bearers were: Raymond H. Bayer, Harold J. Coleman, Raymond J. Creedon, William F. Dewey, Dr. Wallace W. Dietz, Joseph A. Dutton, Charles J. Eagle, Dr. Leo F. LaPalm, A. E. Lechietner, Joseph J. Myler, Dr. Walter J. Riley, Basil E.
Savard, Walter C. Schitzer, City Judge James F. Sheehan, Frank P. Toolan.
Dr. Kenneth A. Carrol, Richard D. Dugan, C. Thomas Eagle, Jack Kearney, Mayor Frank T. Lamb and Herman L. Springer were active bearers.
Mr. Napier was owner of the Driving Park - Dewey Liquor Store, 348 LDriving Park Ave., which he opened in 1937. Prior to that he was an auitor of the Railway Express Agency.
A graduate of old Cathedral High School, class of 1914, he was active in several Catholic groups. These include the Holy Lourdes Church, the Nocturnal Adoration Society, and the Daily Mass Legue. He was faithful in attendance at Cathedral
High School Alumni Association reunions.
Surviving are his wife, Mildred M.: five sons, Robert C., John H., Charles A. and William J. Napier, all of Rochester and Paul Napier of Los Angeles, Calif.; 14 grandchildren and a sister, Marion E. Napier.
Arrangements were made by McIntee Funeral Chapel, Interment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
