I became extremely interested in finding my roots after my grandmother Della Belle Hall passed away on April 14, 2000 on my birthday none the less! She had appeared to me in two dreams giving me a hard time about some unfinished business I needed to take care of regarding my children. Believe me, I took care of those things. I've never had it happen again. But she also had left some unfinished business...
Her mothers life is a mystery to our family. Her name is Edith Grace Hall, b.Apr 26 1886. Birth records saying a George Henry and Julia Emma (Austin)Willis of Alstead NH are her parents, yet Della spoke of Edith as being adopted, or handed down for some reason.
Edith'd birth mother was said to have been a full Abenaki/medicine women. The name Norcross or Norcrosse some how has been handed down to me. My mother tells me she remembers when she was just a child Edith would take her in the woods and tell her roots and plants to collect for old medicinal ways.
My mother also says in Edith's later years she lived in Newport NH, in a chest she kept a indian headress that in length (worn) fell to the floor.I have always had a hand in a share of Native cultures and hand crafts, I'm guessing she is why. So my search continues for my possible Native roots...
