Warham and sixty of his church in Dorcester to settle Windsor, CT.

  Notes for Deacon John Hitchcock:
" Deacon John was a deacon in the Church in Springfield, Massachusetts. His place in the meeting ouse was "In ye Backer Seate avbove the Pillars on the North Side". He was admitted a freeman in 1682 and was a constable in 1672. In a fight at Turner's Falls, he was wouned. May 19, 1676 -- one arm shot through and the other broken. Major Pynchod asked the governor to give ensign John Hitchcock a lieutenant's commission for gallant conduct. On Nov. 9, 1686 hr esd on s vommittee for the "settlement of the town of Quaboag", now Brookfield. In 1688 he was sent with five others to the relief of Brookfield and also "to make fortifications in Quaboag".
      His will was dated FEb 5, 1711-2, and he died Feb. 9, 1711-2. His wife, Hannah, died May 21, 1719
      Deacon John and Hannah had nine children, the sixt being Nathaniel.
