      Watson Miller Lamb was born May 2, 1845, on a farm near the village of Troy in Geauga County, Ohio, where he lived until he attained his majority.
     
His father, Chester Lamb, a native of New York State, was a blacksmith and later a farmer and raiser of fine horses and was well known throughout Northern Ohio.
     
      His mother, Anna Lamb, nee Crooks, was a second wife and a native of Mass.

      He received his education at the District Schools "finishing at the "Western Reserve Electic Institute, later at Neivam College and Neivam, Ohio of which lamented Garfield was at one time Principal.

Enlisted in the Union Army in 1863 but failed to pass the surgeons examination.

Taught a few terms of school and studied medicine from 1866 to 1869.

Married, November 18, 1869, to Miss Emily Adelaid Douglass of Williamson, Wayne Co., New York.

Went to Kansas same year locating at Douglass, Butler, County, the town having been laid out by and named after himself by J.W. Douglass his brother-in-law. Lived at Douglass until 1875 when removed to Sterling then called Peace in Rice County - where
