LOVINIA NEWELL:
Descendants of Glovinia (Newell) Renfro retain a family tradition that John William and Cassie (Pearson) Newell were "Uncle Bill" and "Aunt Cassie." The 1880 and 1900 Lamar Co., AL censuses indicated that Emily Newell, John William's mother, had only one child. The 1910 census indicated that Emily had three living children. Bible records indicate that Glovinia was born in 1874 but she has not yet been located on the 1880 census. Alleged father of Glovinia has been noted by a family source as Alfred "Ab" Blakeny who John William Newell was living with on the 1880 census.
