of Pennsylvania, the gold fields of Colorado, and as a merchant in Chicago, New
Orleans and New York. Henry designed vending machines, fruit canners and an
almost perpetual motion machine based on the design by Wohlgast.

to Veronica Buckwalter "Fanny" SNAVELY (daughter of
Abraham SNAVELY) on 15 Jan 1856.(69)
Henry Hershey and Veronica Sanvely were married at the parsonage of the Holy
Lutheran Church in Lancaster, Pennslyvania. It was selected as a neutral site.
Veronica was Mennonite, but Henry was not. Henry was not permitted to be married
in the Mennonite meeting house because he was "a free thinker."
