15. Henry NEWCOMER Senior (9)(30) (31) was born on 31 Dec 1744 in Leacock, Lancaster, PA.(20) He died on 14 May 1795 in Beaver Creek, Washington, MD.(21) Melanie Jackson gave the 4th as Henry Newcomer's death day. He was buried in Beaver Creek Brethren Cemetery, Beaver Creek, Washington, MD. Henry Newcomer, Sr. settled in Washington County, Maryland around 1775, having moved from Lampeter, Lancaster, Pennsylvania. His tombstone is inscribed in German, and gives his name as Heinrich Neukomers or Neukomets. He owned a mill in Beaver Creek, Maryland.

In 1781 Henry was arrested for participating in a loyalist plot in Frederick County, Maryland. The plot sought to recruit loyalist soldiers for the British Army. He was sentenced to one year in prison.

Surprisingly, the Daughters of the American Revolution Patriot Index - Centennial Edition, Part 2, page 2136, list Henry Newcomer as serving as a private for the rebels.

He was married to Barbara GERBER (daughter of Hans "John" GERBER Junior and Elizabeth COFFMAN) on 25 Dec 1766 in , Lancaster, PA.(21) (22) Barbara GERBER (21)(1) was born on 25 Dec 1746 in , Lancaster, PA. She died on 4 Feb 1818 in , Washington, MD. She was buried in Beaver Creek Brethren Cemetery, Beaver Creek, Washington, MD. Barbara Garver's name is also spelled "Garber" and "Gerber." Henry NEWCOMER Senior and Barbara GERBER had the following children:

child47 x. Joshua NEWCOMER(32) was born after 1780. Irvin Muritz gave 1799 as John Newcomer's birth year, but this would make his mother, Barbara Garver, 53 at the time of John's birth. This seems unlikely to me. He died INFANT. Irvin Muritz gave Joshua Newcomer's death date as 1804. This date seems too late, if Joshua died in infancy.
child48 xi. John NEWCOMER(33) was born after 1781. Lee Garlock placed John Newcomer's birth after 1795. Irvin Muritz gave 1804. Both seem unlikely to me as John's mother, Barbara Garver, was born in 1746. He died INFANT. Irvin Muritz gave John Newcomer's death date as 1799, but this seems too late, if John died in infancy.
