132. John NEWCOMER Senior ^{(20) (21)} was born on 18 Dec 1797 in Beaver Creek, Washington, MD. He was christened in 1798.⁽²⁸⁸⁾ He was buried in Apr 1861 in Brethren Church Cemetery, Beaver Creek, Washington, MD. He died on 21 Apr 1861.⁽²¹⁾ Gary Shaw gave August as the month of John Newcomer's death. John Newcomer was active politically. He served as sheriff of Washington County in 1836, a state senator 1840-1846, a county commissioner in 1846 and in 1859, and a delegate to the Maryland state constitutional convention in 1850.

He managed his farm in Washington County, operated a flour mill on Beaver Creek and established the flour and grain firm of Newcomer & Stonebraker in Baltimore.

He was married to Catharine NEWCOMER (daughter of Samuel NEWCOMER Senior and Elizabeth HUFFERD) on 9 Dec 1822 in , Washington, MD. Catherine Newcomer and John Newcomer were first cousins. Catharine NEWCOMER⁽²¹⁾ was born on 18 Dec 1802 in , , MD. Lee Garlock listed Catharine Newcomer's date of birth as 15 December 1802. She died on 3 Feb 1883 in , Washington, MD.
