Walter C. Weis, Sr., joined the L.A. City Fire Department in 1930 and r etired an Engineer in approximately 1958. Prior to his entry into the f ire department, he was the service manager for Dickson Chevrolet in Los A ngeles.

Walter had quit school in the eighth grade. He played semi-pro basebal l in St. Louis before coming to Los Angeles. While living in Los Angel es, he played industrial league (indoor league) baseball for the L.A. C asting Company as a "ringer".

The source for this is his son, Walter Charles Weis, Jr.
At his death, Walter Charles Weis, Sr., belonged to the Craftsman Lodge 5 59, the Al Malaikah Shrine, was a past patron of the West Adams Chapter 4 11 of the Order of the Eastern Star and a past president of the Builder 's Club of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
