The June 1880 census of Washington Township, Randolph County, Indiana s tates that William R. Glover was 14 years of age at the time of the cen sus and lists his birth place as Indiana.
This powderhorn is currently (2006) in the possession of Kristina Newco mer.

History of the Powderhorn: Domestic cow horn is the most common materi al from which they are made. Horns made excellent containers because t hey could be made air and water tight. Powderhorns served as a close c ompanion to the musket, fowler, or Kentucky rifle or pistol. It carrie d the black powder propellant necessry to load and fire the firearm. A p owder horn is tough, lightweight and spark proof. During the mid-eight eenth century every man who owned a firearm owned a powderhorn.
