It is in this way that Jacobus van Zyl received the farm Goedverwagting, Kango, on loan in May 1762. Some loan farms were later improved by cultivation of the land and the building of more permanent housing. From the history of the van Zyl family it is clear that they also knew the farms Buffelsvlei, Kruisrivier and Vinknesrivier in the current Calitzdorp district.
