What happens when man has had enough of the strife and toil here on earth? What happens if he wants to go and stay with the birds? What if his wish is granted? In this playful look at man and his problems, Pierre Perold rewrote the classical Greek comedy by Aristophanes and gave it a South African flavour. This spectacular of song, dance, drama and art is not to be missed. Presented on 27 & 28 April 19:00 in the David Ross Hall of the Lady Grey Arts Academy. (LG Youth Arts Festival Program 2001)

Ada Potgieter holds a B Mus Ed-degree (UFS) and a M Mus (cum laude) in flute performance (UN). She is a professional flute-soloist and orchestral musician, and was a member of the S A National Youth Orchestra, the World Youth Orchestra in Scotland in 1979, the PACOFS and NAPAC orchestras and a Kur-Orchestra in Germany. She was a flute teacher at the Durban Ballet and Music School for 7 years and also taught piano, recorder and classical guitar. The Coronation Mass hails Mozart's genius as composer, even as a young man. There is some controversy regarding the event for which Mozart composed this work; no doubt exists that this is one of the great musical treasures of the world. Performed on by the Lady Grey Arts Academy Concert Choir, conducted by Botes Gresse, accompanist Peter Swann and assistant accompanists Marais A van den Berg, Ada Potgieter, Marliza den Heyer and Malanie Ferreira.
