Peter Swann (Drama & Fringe Manager)
Peter Swann was 'n leerling aan die Pro Arte Hoërskool in Pretoria waar
hy klavier as eerste instrument onder leiding van Alta Marx en klarinet as tweede
instrument onder Andrew Earles bestudeer het. In 1985 was hy as pianis 'n semi-finalis
in die TOD Concerto-fees en in die SAUK se Prelude-kompetisie. In 1986 ontvang
hy 'n toekenning vir skryfkuns: drama, by die ATKV vir sy debuutwerk, DIE ANDER
MENSE, 'n eenbedryf drama. Na matriek studeer hy verder aan die Pretoria Technikon
se Filmskool.
While Studying for his ND in Film and Video Technology, he completed his first
full length stage play, VIOLENCE, which was presented at the 1988 Standard Bank
National Arts Festival: Fringe. He also worked on several local as well as international
film projects as sound recorder and editor, film editor and director. Peter
Swann has acted and directed for professional theatre since 1993. He has produced
and acted in many theatre productions including SNACKTIME IN CANDYLAND (Grahamstown
1993 - writer and actor), Shirley Johnstone's award winning comedy. PLASTICS
(1994, Ramblers Theatre, Director) as well as Reza de Wet's DRIE SUSTERS II (1997.
Ex-act Theatre Company. actor). In 1995 he collaborated with Marais van den
Berh on the writing of a cabaret called THE OTHER SIDE OF EVE and the production
was hailed as one of the ten best productions at the 1995 Grahamstown Arts Festival
by Gillian Anstey - Sunday Times critic.

Marais A van den Berg matriculated in 1989 at the High School De Aar. He sang
in the school choir, was editor of the school newspaper and received the J Aucamp-Trophy
for Best Language User. In the same year he also received the trophy for Best
Male Public Speaker.
In 1995 he received the degree BA. with English and Philosophy as majors from
the Free State University. As student he also took piano lessons with Marlis
Potgieter. He was editor for the Arts and Culture Page of the IRAWA, the student
newspaper. He won several poetry competitions at university. He is currently
reading for BA. Hons. (English and Literary Theory) at UNISA.
As a student collaborated with Peter Swann in the writing of cabarets, some of
which were performed at the Standard Bank National Arts Festival in Grahamstown.
One of the cabarets, THE OTHER SIDE OF EVE, was voted as one of the ten best
productions by Gillian Anstey, a Sunday Times-critic.
Currently he teaches English and Computers at the Lady Grey Arts Academy. He
is also responsible for translations, press releases, marketing aspects and liaison.
When he is at home, he enjoys playing piano, he is an avid reader, and, one day
soon, that first novel WILL be completed. His interests range from Philosophy
to Theology, Writing and Composition, Languages and Computers. He lives with
