Family Origins

The Oke Family Tree

I am researching the ancestors of my great-grandparents. Their names were Martin on my maternal side and Oke, (Oake, Oakes) on my paternal side. My ancestors came from Kahnawake Mohawk Territory and St. Regis Mohawk Territory (US and Canada) sides. It has been very hard to track down some of the information as the records were not kept very well back in the early 1700's. We (my son and I)have been at this for 12 years now and have a total of 1474 people on our tree now. We have traced our tree back to the mid 1700's mainly from the records kept at St. Francios Xavier Mission at Kahnawake, Quebec, and accessed from the LDSH Family History Centre who have all these files on micro-fiche now. We still have a few gaps to fill in and need any information that we can gather on these names and regions.
