She was born August 13, 1904, to Frank and Emily Durant Oleson on a farm in Madison Township south of Forest City. She married Arthur C. Steffensen at the Methodist parsonage at Clear Lake and the couple farmed near Miller. They lived on the Steffensen homestead near Forest City until 1936 and from there moved to Joice where they completed their family of 11 children. In 1942, the family moved to the Buffalo Center community.

Memorial service for Wilna B. Oleson, 94, a resident of Atria Martinez Assisted Living in Augusta, Ga., will be 1:30 p.m. today (Wednesday, May 8) at the Forest City United Methodist Church. She died Dec. 20, 2001, at Doctor's Hospital in Augusta. The Rev. Gary Marzolf will officiate. Burial will be in Madison Township Cemetery in Forest City.

Visitation was set for Tuesday, May 7, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Petersen Lund Funeral Home in Forest City.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Donald (Beverly) Steiff, of Belvedere, S.C.; on son, Carroll "Ole" Oleson, of Marshalltown; their spouses; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

WILNA OLESON (Mason City Globe Gazette 05/06/02)

FOREST CITY - Wilna B. Oleson, age 94, of Atria Martinez Assisted Living, Augusta, Ga., and formerly of Forest City, Iowa, died on December 20, 2001 at Doctor's Hospital in Augusta.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Forest City with Rev. Gary Marzolf officiating. Burial will be at Madison Township Cemetery in Forest City.

There will be a visitation from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Petersen Lund Funeral Home, 505 N. Clark St., Forest City.

Mrs. Oleson lived in North Augusta, S.C., and Augusta, Ga., since returning from Honolulu, Hawaii, in 1991, her home for twenty years. Previously, she was a resident of Forest City, Iowa.

In Hawaii, Mrs. Oleson was active in AARP, volunteer work, and serving the Lord as a member of Harris United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one daughter; Mrs. Donald (Beverly) Steiff of Belvedere, S.C.; one son, Carroll "Ole" Oleson, of Marshalltown, and their spouses; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvan C. Oleson and two sons, Clinton and Darrell Oleson.
