Dale G. "Red" Oleson, 80, died Thursday, February 5, 2004. Memorial services will be Saturday, February 7 at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Newton. The family will greet friends immediately following the memorial service with a coffee time in the fellowship hall of the church.

Dale was born on March 20, 1923 in Kingsley, IA. He married Carol J. VanderLinden on June 24, 1950 in Des Moines and they resided in Newton. He was employed as a design engineer at the Maytag Company in Newton for 28.3 years and retired in 1990.

He is survived by his wife, Carol of Newton; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Stan Oleson and Kate Morton-Peters of St. Paul, MN, and Bruce Oleson of LeGrand, IA; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Woodrow Oleson-King of Des Moines, IA; four grandchildren, Claire Oleson-King, Reece Oleson-King, Madeline Oleson and Peter Oleson.

Memorials in his name may be left at the church at the time of service or at the Wallace Family Funeral Home.
