Memories-I remenber boarding a train with my Grandma Grace a lot of times in Defiance on the Wabash and riding it to Liberty Center where Bernice and Charlie would meet us. We would stay with them on their farm-what a ball I would have. My Grandmother practically raised me because my Mother had to work. My Grandmother was the sweetest person I will ever know! When my dad died, money was really tight for us. I hardly knew my Dad. He was a mean person to all of us. He liked to drink and fight. It cost him his life because he started a fight one night with a guy who beat him to death! It was a terrible time in my life for me as a young boy. Last summer, I went to the Defiance Library and pulled up the Crescent news on his dated of death and read the article about his death. Headline news! The guy that beat my dad to death was charged with manslaughter and given 5 yrs. probation-that is all.

Jon Osborn-Jon T. Osborn, 56 Napoleon, Ohio, died (aneyersium) Tuesday at St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo, Ohio. He was born 9 Oct. 1942, in Napoleon, Ohio, the son of Russell and Meredith(Castell) Osborn. In 1972 he maried Geraldine Tschantz, who survives. He was the bailiff for Napoleon Municipal Court, served as Henry County probation officer and served on the Napoleon Police Dept., retiring after 25 years. He was a member of St. Pauls United Methodist church, Bert G. Taylor American Legion Post 300, the Napoleon Men's club and served in the U.S. Army. Also surviving are his mother, Napoleon: a son, Russell, Napoleon, a daughter Elizabeth, Napoleon, a brother, Jerry, Holland and a sister, Mrs. Alfred(Mary Jay)Billow, Maumee. Proceeding him in death was his father and two brothers Jim and Joe. Service will be at 10:30a.m. Friday in Walker Mortuary with the Rev. Michael Westbay officiating. Military rites will be conducted during services. Preferred memorial are to the church, the Ann Grady Center, Holland , or to a charity of the
donor's choice.

Helen M. Osborn
(1905-1999)

Stryker- Helen M. Osborn, 94 of Stryker, died Friday night, Nov. 19, 1999, at Fairlawn Nursing Center, Archbold.
Born Nov. 12, 1905, in Farmer Township, she was the daughter of Maybe(Stone) and Bert Rogers, and graduated from Farmer High School in 1923.
She was married on Aug. 29, 1931, to Richard Osborn, who preceded her in death in1960. A long-time resident of Stryker, she was an office employee of the Holabird Company in Bryan for more than 50 years before retiring in 1981.
Mrs. Osborn was a 60-plus year member of the Stryker United Methodist Church, serving in various capacities including the audit committee and music activities.
Surviving are a son, Col.(ret.) Richard Duane (and wife, Kay) Osborn of McKinney, Texas: four grandchildren, Forrest (Sherri) of Dallas, Texas, John (Cindy) of Clifton, Va., Mrs. Michael (Lynn) Carpenter of Murphy, Texas, and Gilbert (Carol) of Victoria, Texas: and 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Calvin Rogers, and two sisters, Jennie Goller and Leone Lourash.
Friends may call today from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the Grisier Funeral Home in Stryker.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Stryker United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jeffrey L. Ridenour officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Stryker.
Memorials may be made to the church.
