Life is eternal and love is immortal, and death is only a horizon, and a horizon is nothing save the limits of our sight.

What Cancer Can not Do

Cancer can not cripple love
it can not shatter hope
it can not corrode faith
it can not destroy peace
it can not kill friendship
it can not suppress memories
it can not silence courage
it can not invade the soul
it can not steal eternal life
it can not conquer the spirit

email received from Floyd Juillard to Lucinda Osborn 3-10-01

Yes - I knew Bob and Howard - but not Bob as much as I knew Howard. Howard
was a grade different from me but during the summer months he - and others -
played softball with me at the Stryker Ball Park. We played just about every
day during the summer. He lived just down the street from me. I lived a
half block west of Griesers Funeral Home on the South side of the street. I
knew him when he and his family lived just south - about a half mile from the
Stryker Cemetery. Behind their house at the time was one of our favorite
swimming pools in old Bean Creek (Tiffin River). Howard and family moved
from there at a young age to our street in town. Don Juillard's father and
mine were brothers. I didn't run around socially with Howard
but I did spend a lot of time with him at the ball park during summers. I
wasn't very socially minded in those days. I preferred fishing, coon hunting
and winter trapping. I did a lot of ice skating also and Howard used to join
us for ice skating at what was once called Jolly's bridge where we all used
to meet and play ice hockey on the river. Once in awhile we had an ice
skating party (in the evenings) that would congregate at the bridge. The
boys used to meet their girl friends there in the evening and skate with them
up or down the river to get away from the crowd and do a little smooching.
I'm sure Howard did the same thing but I can't remember the girl's name that
he would pair up with. When I left high school, I joined the Navy and spent
20 years as a carrier based fighter pilot before retiring. I now live in
Peoria AZ - a long way from Stryker. I still own a farm back there (left to
me by my mother) that is located half way between Stryker and Archbold that I
rent out. I get back there about once or twice every summer. Thanks for
dropping in. That brought back memories. Floyd Juillard
