DARREL YOUNG

Darrel Young, 80, 415 Summit St., died in Defiance Hospital at 1:05 a.m. Sunday. He had been taken to the hospital by Defiance Rescue Squad at 4:12 p.m. Saturday.
Born in Independence, Feb 14, 1892, he was a son of Alphonso and May (Osborn) Young. He and Hazel Sowle were married Dec 3 1914. Surviving are the widow: three sons, Roy Young, Kingsville, Texs: Dean Young, 1225 Schultz St., and Herbert Young, Jackson, Mich.: five daughters, Mrs. Albert (Mavis) Grodi, Port Clinton: Mrs. John (Donna) Walters, Petersburg, Mich.; Mrs. John (Ruth) Boyd, Riverside, Calif.; Mrs. Lee (Hazel) Helbert, Napoleon, and Mrs. Leo (Mardell) Mangett, Flint, Mich.; 30 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren. Preceding him in death was a sister, Mrs. Ethel Klintworth.
He spent most of his life in Defiance, had lived on Summit Street for 53 years, and had worked for Defiance County Highway Department for 30 years, reiring in 1960.
He was a charter member of Defiance County Coon Hunters Association.
Friends may call at Mast and Mock Funeral Home after 7 p.m. today. Services will be in the funeral home at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Everett Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery.

ETHEL B. KLINTWORTH

Mrs. Ethel B. Klintworth, 76, 410 Summit Street, was dead on arrival at 8:10 a.m. today in Defiance Hospital where she had been taken by the rescue squad from hte home of her daughter, Mrs. Rudolph (Thelma) Heimke, rt. 4.
Death apparently due to a heart attack.
She had fallen in her home Feb 4, fractured her hip and was a surgical patient at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, having been dismissed two weeks ago.
Born in North Richland Tp. Nov 24, 1894, she was a daughter of Alphonso and May (Osborn) Young. She and August Klintworth were married Feb. 4, 1915. He died Sept. 18 1961.
Surviving are another daughter, Mrs. E.J."Bud"(Beulah) Liska, rt 4: seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and one brother, Darrel Young, 415 Summit.
Preceding her in death was a grandson.
She was a member of Independence United Methodist Church, North Richland Get Together Club, Ronda Circle and the Relief and Benefit Association.
Friends may call in Mast and Mock Funeral Home after 7 p.m. today. Service will be at 2 o.m. Saturday in the funeral home. The Rev. Everett Thomas will officiate and burial will be in Independence Cemetery.

Shooting Accident Second in 3 Days

DEFIANCE, O., Sept 19-A North Richland Township farmer was killed yesterdy in Defiance Conty's second hunting accident in three days.
The body of August Klintworth, 67, RD 4, Defiance, was found on a fence near his barn at 4 p.m. yesterday. He apparently shot himself accidentally when his shotgun discharged as he was crawling through the fence, said Dr. Francis Lenhart, coroner.
Gene Geren, 23, Jewell, O., was fatally shot in the first hunting accident Saturday.
Mr. Klintworth left home to go suirrel hunting around 7 a.m. and the accident apparently occurred a few minutes later, said Sheriff John Bridenbaugh. The body was found by a neighbor, Roger Linebrink, who started the search when the farmer did not return home by late afternoon.
The shotgun charge struck Mr. Klintworth in the face, killing him instantly, the coroner reported.
Mr. Klintworth was a member of Independence Methodist Church and several county sportsmen's clubs. He lived in the Defiance area since 1912.
Surviving are his wife, Ethel; daughters, Mrs. Rudolph Helmke and Mrs. E. J. Liska, both of Defiance County; seven grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. J. W. Fonger, Tillamook, Ore.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Mansfield-Mast Mortuary with burial in Independence Cemetery.
