bullet Samuel Kelly FARRIS was born on 19 Sep 1872. He died in 1912 in GA. Samuel Kelly moved from Horse Cave, KY to Etowah, TN around the turn of the century, per Robert E Farris, Samuel's grandson. Samuel was an engineer on the L&N railroad and was killed in a train wreck in 1912 in northern Georgia. He was the engineer on a "fast" freight. The wreck occcured as a result of a wash out of a small bridge on Kennesaw Mountain. Garvin was the "call boy" who called the wreck crew to go to the wreck site, not knowing it was his father at the time.

There seems to be 8 Farris men who came into Washington Co. VA in the early days.
Without proof, there is speculation that these 8 brothers MAY have been the sons of
THIS William Farris, who seems to have been born about the time that Henry left the
tavern business in Petersburg, VA. There was a Farris girl who left Augusta Co. VA
for Lunnenburg Co. VA, the "home" county of some of Henry's boys. Pure speculation,
but could tie the Farris' in Augusta Co., Washington Co. and the Lunnenburg, Halifax,
Henry Counties together.

1845 Lincoln Co. KY, DB T, p. 17: William Farris and Kissiah Beaty, marriage contract (premarital agreement) that both would retain any and all holdings, after marriage, separately.

Other court records show that Polly sued William Farris and H.W. Farris. She also had a suit concerning estate of G. Smith heirs.

Also note that in 1843 William no longer has the Washington Co. property and in 1844 Mary is listed separately on the tax list WITH the Washington Co. property. Since William didn't have the property before he married her in 1836 this property may have been hers. I am wondering if they may have been separated or divorced in 1843? It would explain why Mary didn't mention him in her will in 1845. And this could also be the reason for the premarital agreement between William and Keziah.

Keziah (nee Ford) first married Josiah Evans with whom she is buried in the
Evans Cemetery, Pulaski Co. KY. Josiah died on 14 Feb. 1836. She then
married Josiah N. Beattie in Pulaski Co. KY on 4 Oct. 1838.
