Joseph LANKARD⁽²⁶⁾⁽²²⁾ was born on 21 Nov 1800/1 in Dauphine Co., PA. He died on 4 Mar 1865 in Armstrong Co., PA. He was buried in Salem Cemetery, New Salem, Clearfield Co., PA. Joseph spelled the name Lenker. Various spellings have occurred:Lenckert (as Joseph's father spelled the name), Lanker, Linker, Lankard, Lenkard, Lenkert. Peter, child # 1, was the first to use the spelling of Lankard.
Joselph's tombstone says his birthdate is 16 May 1802. Other records give it as 21 Nov 1800 and 1801. His will was probated 16 Mar 1865.
Joseph and "Margaret" Lived in Lykens Valley, Dauphin Co., Pa. until the late 1830's. In 1830 Feb census records they were listed in Mifflin Twp, Dauphin Co., PA. In 1840 census they were listed in Redbank Twp, Armstrong Co., PA. Because of repeated flooding in the Lyken Valley, Joseph and his family loaded their possessions and moved westward by wagon over the Allegheny mountains to Armstrong, Co., PA. Joseph bought 180 3/4 acres of land in Redbank Twp., Armstrong Co., PA at the cost of $271 from Holland Land Co., deed dated 27 Apr 1837.
The last five children may have been born in Armstrong Co., PA. Parents: George LANKARD.

She was married to William Edwin MITCHELL on 24 Apr 1924 in Westphalia, Anderson Co., KS. Children were: Edna Ruth MITCHELL, Ruby Louise MITCHELL, Bobby Lee MITCHELL.

Peter LANKARD was born on 24 Feb 1822 in Dauphine Co., PA. He died in 1894. The two sons, John and Grant possible died in infancy. No other record of these two sons are found.
It was said of Peter, by his son Joselph, that "he was a real PA. Yankee and as German as they come" and whatever he started, he finished. Peter died of lung fever in the Cherokee Strip, where he had moved two weeks prior. He was buried in the Blackburn, OK cemetery, a tiny town on the Arkansas River in Pawnee Co. Peter was listed in 1850 through 1880 census in Armstron Co., PA. He did own land in Jefferson Co. for a short time. He moved west after the children were born, located in Anderson Co., KS and later in Coffey Co., KS. He lived for a time in Quapaw, OK. Parents: Joseph LANKARD and Margaretta ENTERLINE.
