bullet George PARKS I(37) (3) was born on 5 Aug 1758/59 in Amherst Co., VA. He died on 7 Dec 1836/37 in Bloomington, Monroe Co., IN. Elizabeth, child # 1 was a child of Geroge's out of wedlock. He paid child support for a while. There was a Bastardy Bond in 1778, Wilkes Co., NC, for George Parks and Jane Rainey. Signed by John Parks and George Parks, for daughter Elizabeth. Nothing is known about her except that as she is not listed with the children in his Rev War papers.
George was a Rev War Patriot, Pension claim 27457. He stated he wasn't sure of the date he entered the service but "he very well recollect, that the beef cattle had got in good order in the woods, he entered the service of the United States as a substitute for a period of three months at the County of Wilkes, in the State of North Carolina, to fill the place of and as the substitute of Cornelius Sale, SR in the company commanded by Cap William Lenore (Senore). The Lt's name was William Gray." He was only about 15, according to "his recollection". He was employed in the erection, and after completing it, in the defence of Fort Defiance, high up on the Yadkin River. He served the three months and returned home. The next spring he was drafted into Company of Foot (can't read word) commanded by Col Benjamin Cleveland in the Militia of the State of North Carolina. This company marched in expedition against the Cherokee Indians. He served from Fort Cater and Fort Priner. He served his three months and returned home, only to be called up again. He again served under the same commanders. He was in a battle at King Mountain. After the battle George was sent home in charge of his nephew Henry Parks who was wounded in the battle. The last expedition during his eighteen months, he marched under said Officers and was designed to reinforce General Greene at Guilford Court House, NC.

After George's mother, Esther Caroline, died George was reared by James Posey and Caroline Parks, brother to Esther. A court record on 10 July 1862 appointed James George's legal guardian. George was named in Pleasant's will, Esther's father. It remains a mystery as to why George was reared with the James family and not with his father, Leroy's family in IL.
George was living in Bedford, IN in 1878, where he received $1200 from his father, LeRoy Harvey Parks, a year or so before LeRoy died.
George graduated from American School of Magnetic Healing (Hypnosis), Nevada, MO. He begin practice @ 1893 and continued until 1899. Early in 1900 he was a Chiropractor. He was also a car salesman, and owned one of the first car in Bedford. He also built the first garage there for his car.
