Yes, I think we are, if your mother or aunt is Jane French P. and her father was Charles Russell, Jr. P. and his grandfather was Lewis Applegate Powelson, a member of the Holland Society, from whom I got some of his stats. Lewis was son of Cornelius b.1817, who was son of John I. b.1788, son of Johannes (Johannis) b.1754 who may have served in Rev. bullet Hanon Bray POWELSON was born on 11 Mar 1863 in Moscow Mills, Lincoln Co., MO. He died on 4 Apr 1933. Hanan and Victoria lived out their lives on their farm in Lincoln Co. Hanan learned the use of herbs and folk cures and was called upon to "doctor" sick animals. They raised most of their own food as well as cash crops, as their ancestors had done. Victoria used the huge iron kettle in the yeard for everything from butchering to redering lard, canning and preserving foods, making soap and boiling the clothes. Her family had brought the kettle from VA by covered wagon. Parents: Paul/Polk POWELSON and Fariba Durham BRAY.

bullet Henry POWELSON was born on 26 Feb 1792 in Cacapeon, Hampshier Co., WV. He died in 1865 in Moscow Mills, Lincoln Co., MO. He was buried in 1865 in Bray Cemeter, Lincoln Co., MO. After the death of his father Henry decided that he could not wait for the estate to be settled. Since there was no will, settlement could take years. Being anxious to move to the New West in Ohio, he sold his one-seventh share of the estate to William French, whose land adjoined that of the Powelson heirs, on 16 Aug 1826. This apparently caused hard feelings.
Sone literally cut out Henry's name from a copy of Chloe Ann's will in the will book in the Hampshire Co., WV court house. It was also cut out of the court settlement account.
The census birthplaces of the children show that Henry moved restlessly from VA to OH, to IL, MO and IA.
Susan, age 44, died in Pleasant Valley Twp. Johnson Co., IA. She was buried in the Walker Family Cenetery, 22 Feb 1847.
Henry gave his age as 50 on the 1850 census of Johnson Co., IA. However, he said he was 58 in the 1860 census of Lincoln Co., MO.
Ot jas been said that Henry gave farmland to his children and lived part time with his children, supporting himself by cutting ties for the railroad. He died in 1865 and was buried in the Bray Cemetery in Lioncoln Co., MO. Parents: John POWELSON and Chloe Ann NELSON.

He was married to Susannah HINES about 1824 in Little Cacapon, Hampshire Co., WV. Children were: Elizabeth Ann POWELSON, John POWELSON, Thomas POWELSON, Cloy Jane POWELSON, Rebecca POWELSON, Henry POWELSON, Paul/Polk POWELSON.

bullet Henry POWELSON was born on 30 Jan 1834 in IL. Henry was a twin to Rebecca according to family history. He went West to California during the Gold Rush. Wrote back that he had enough gold for all the family and no one else needed to come. He was never heard from after that. When goldfever swept the country in 1849, Joseph Walker's brother Henry and a group from Iowa City, headed for the gold fields. Henry Powelson went with them. He wrote his brother Paul, "Don;t come.
