Jasper applied for Pension for Ex-Conferate Soldiers 11 Dec 1913. He stated that he entered service at Owens School House in Barton Co., MO in Spring of 1861. Name of Col. Commanding Reg. was Col Frank Walker. Did not remember the number of the regiment but stated it was Cavalary. Jasper stated he faught in battles of Wilson Creek and at Lexington. His request was denied due to the War Department unable to find records. Jasper said the records were burned by Federal troups on Horse Creek, MO. He was 80 years old at the time of application. Stated " I am not able to do any manual labor, have no income and no means sufficient for my support. No property in wife's name, and no children or relations who should support me".

At the outbreak of the War most of the Cedar Co. officials were Southern sympathizers, and the County records were taken South, it is said, by some of them, and hidden in Arkansas. Near the close of the war some Union soldiers discovered the books in a cave in Arkansas, and took them to Springfield, and later they were returned to Cedar County officials.
Two companies were recruited in Cedar County for the Union service, and a large number of men from the county attached themselves to other organizations in the area. The two companies mentioned served seven months in the Seventh Provisional Regiment Enrolled Missouri Militia. 3 Nov 1863 they were mustered into the Fifteenth Missouri Volunteer Cavalry, as Companies A and M.
The "Stockton Grays" (the company Jasper Newton Robinson served in) were organized, with about ninety men, with B F Walker as Captain, and Russell Lilburn as first lieutenant, in 1861. This company was recruited under Gov Jackson's call, and attached to the Mo State Guard, but later most members connected themselves with the Confederate States army, and served until the end of the war. The regiment took part in battles at Oak Hill (Wilson;s Creek), Lone Jack, Prairie Grove, Lexington and others. Parents: William ROBINSON and Mary Ann GEROL.
