This story was told to me by Lee Henry. Lee Henry would take Tom Crawford to visit Obediah Steward. Tom said, "Obediah told me that his son, William was shot in the back on Sun Creek in Dade Co., MO by Bushwackers. It was cold wintertime. His body laid there 3 weeks. Someone identified him. He was brought to the Oldham Cemetery and buried in 1863. I believe one of the stones must be Bill's (William)." Tom

Uncle Jim Steward told us he rode with his older brother, William (Bill) during the Civil War. He said they were crossing a river, swimming their horses and the Northern soldiers were shooting at them. They hit his brother and he fell from his horse. And the last Jim saw was his yellow hair sinking in the water. He was shot the 22nd of May, 1864.-----------Archie Ready
