Notes for G
EORGE WILLIAM MINDER:
On the 1885 Wisconsin Census, Frankfort Township, Pepin County George is listed with two males and two females living at his residence. This probably means that he and Maranda had a son as well as a daughter but I have never been able to locate such a person. On the 1895 Wisconsin Census George is listed alone. At some time it looks like George and Maranda were probably divorced or were no longer living together.

It was two years later in 1897 that George was admitted to the Mendota Mental Health Institute in Madison, Wisconsin where he died a little over a month after being admitted at the young age of 46.

In 1995 I wrote to this Institute and was informed that his records had been destroyed in 1988. They did send me a copy of his Master Patient Index File card which gave his name, case no, date of admittance, date of death, county and age.

Maiden Rock Weekly Press 20 May 1897 - George William Minder was born in Fort Madison, Iowa 9 August 1851, and moved with his parents to Wisconsin in 1875, and has lived in that state ever since until his death, which occured at Mendota, Wisconsin, on 2 May 1897, aged 45 years, 8 months and 21 days. He was a man who was honest and upright in all his dealings.

They were married in a civil ceremony by A. Peterson, J.P. The marriage was witnessed by Merry Hasselstrom and Allie Peterson.
