Notes for R
USHIA ANNA MINDER:
Rushia Anna was a twin and the boy (Elmiry or Emiry) died at birth. Rushia attended a convent for music lessons but did not stay with it long enough to teach. Instead she went to work for her brother Jim as a typesetter. After this she went to Minneapolis and stayed with a Mrs. Mullin, where she lived until her marriage.

Obit from The Liberty County Farmer, Thursday, 14 May 1936. Mrs. O.J. Hanson, beloved and respected pioner matron dead.

The people of this section of the Hi-Line were grieved at the word Saturday that Mrs. O.J. Hanson, respected and loved pioneer matron had answered the call of her Maker, and passed quietly on. The end was not unexpected as Mrs. Hanson had been ill for many months, having suffered a stroke over a year ago, from which she had never rallied. She bore her physical suffering patiently and meekly; just as she had lived her everday life - sweetly sparing others and not thinking of herself. Her childrens' great adoration of her told plainer than words, what a wonderful mother she truly was. And while she has gone on, the beautiful memory she has left to her family and friends will ever be a blessing and an inspiration to higher and better things.

She died at her home in Joplin, Montana after a long illness. After mariage she and O.J. lived in Herman, Minnesota, moving then to Sherwood, North Dakota. They came to Montana in 1908 settling first at Chester, later moving to Joplin, where she resided until her death.

Rushia was a member of the Inverness Methodist Congregation, a member of the Lutheran Ladies Aid of Joplin, and a member of the Royal Neighbors of America at Whitefish, Montana.

ESSIE ESTHER MINDER:
Jessie Esther Minder, the daughter of Eli and Mary Henrietta (Milliren) Minder was born 7 December 1872.

Jessie's dad, Eli, was strict about school lessons. She had to redo a lot of copy work - but it paid off, as she became a school teacher in Minneapolis, and even in her advanced age, had a beautiful handwriting.

According to the Minder Story (author unknown) the Eli Minder family home burned when Jessie was 23 years of age and a teacher in Minneapolis. Her mother was working the garden of their 70 acre farm and her father, Eli, was on the river. They had a lot of Minder family treasures but nothing was saved from the fire.
