Notes for G
ENEVA ARVELLA MINDER:
Geneva Arvella was the third child born to Kenner and Cora Della (Bunce) Minder. She grew up on a farm in Salem Township near the Peterson farm. She married Henry Edgar Peterson on 28 January 1922 in Red Wing, Minnesota. She and Henry lived in Red Wing where their first two children (sons) were born then they moved to the Peterson family farm to help Henry's mother after the death of her husband.

On the farm in Salem Township they had two more children born into their family. After leaving the farm they lived in Esdaile, Hager City and then moved back to Red Wing. Then on to Rice Lake, Wisconsin where their fifth and last child was born.

Geneva could make the best pancakes of anyone in the world. People loved to eat at her house and especially if she had pancakes. Anytime anyone dropped in Geneva had to fix something for them to eat. She could go to her kitchen and put together a meal in no time.

She also loved to crochet. She made many beautiful baby afaghans for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was in the process of making an afaghan when she died and her grand daughter, Twila, finished it.

She also loved to play Scrabble, read books, do cross word puzzles, garden, can and make pies.

In the late 1970's Geneva suffered a massive heart attack while living in Mississippi. She and Henry moved back to Minnesota in April of 1980. That summer Geneva would ask her families if they had any extra things from their gardens that she could can. She couldn't just sit back and not do nothing. So she canned and went on with her life.

In July of that year a great grandson was born and her daughter-in-law, Kitty, babysat for him two days a week. Many mornings, Kitty, would hear a knock on her door and there stood Geneva wanting to see Uriah. She loved babies, children and just everyone. She was good to have around for the advice that she could give to new mothers.

On 19 September 1980 she died at St. Elizabeth's Hospital of a heart attack. During the night of the 18th she had not been feeling well and the next morning she went to the doctor and he wanted to put her in the hospital but she told him she could not go because her son, Gerald, was having a rally at his church that evening and she did not want to miss the meeting. But later in the day she got so sick that Lloyd and Kitty took her to the hospital where she died two hours later.

ENRY EDGAR PETERSON:
Henry Edgar Peterson, the fourth child of John Erick and Louisa Ulrika (Berggren) Peterson was born on 8 November 1898 in Florence Township, Goodhue County, Minnesota. He attended Florence Township elementary schools until he and his family moved to Salem Township, Wisconsin where he finished his schooling.

On 28 January 1922 he was united in marriage in Red Wing, Minnesota to Geneva Arvella Minder.

Henry was short in stature with brown hair and a lively sense of humor. During his lifetime he did many things; farmed, was a salesman, worked in a factory and was an ordained minister in the United Pentecostal Church, Int.

During their married life Henry and Geneva moved a lot. They lived in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Texas, Mississippi and California. But no matter where they lived they were always the same kind of people. Working hard and caring for those around them.

In his later years he and Geneva lived on a farm on Rush River. Here Henry had a large garden and sold produce to many people in Ellsworth. They were very happy there on the farm with their family close by and lots of grandchildren and great grandchildren to fuss over. When the farm got to much for them their daughter, Gloria, moved them to a small house outside of Ellsworth. Here Henry still had a garden but on a smaller scale. They were still close to many of their family members.

Later on Henry got sick and they moved to Meridian, Mississippi to be near their daughter and her family and to just sit back and relax and enjoy life. When Geneva got sick they moved back home to Minnesota. This time in Wabasha near their son, Lloyd.

They moved to Wabasha in April of 1980 and Geneva died in September of that year and Henry continued to live alone in his apartment in Wabasha. He did his own washing, cooked for awhile and then got meals on wheels. He loved to walk around town and visit with the merchants.

On 27 April 1986 after being in the hospital for two weeks he died from pneumonia. He's buried in the Maiden Rock Cemetery in Maiden Rock Township, Wisconsin.
