Courier Wedge, Thursday, March 25, 1999: Obituary for Eldora M. Hovland--Eldora May Hovland, 76, of Durand, died Thursday March 18, 1999 at Chippewa Valley Hospital, Durand, She was born 8 May 1922 in Durand, a daughter of William and Ruth Minder McKernon. She graduated from Durand High School in 1940, then worked as a housekeeper.
20 September 1941, she married Walter Hovland in Durand, where they lived all of their married life. Eldora worked with her husband at Hovland Feed Mill. Later, she worked for Durand Canning Company, Huntsinger Farms, the hot lunch program at Durand Unified School, and Durand Bakery. Walter died 21 April 1967. In 1981, she moved to Prissel Apartments, where she lived until 1990, when she moved to Hillcrest Apartments.
Eldora enjoyed reading, cooking, and taking care of her grandchildren. She was a member of United Methodist Church.
She is survived by sons, Walter Hovland of Nelson, Randy (Nancy) Hovland of Durand; daughters, Patricia (Daniel) Seipel of Beloit, Barbara "Boots" (David) Hayden of Durand; fourteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Darrel Miner of Durand.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ruth Minder McKernon; her husband, Walter Hovland; sisters, Lorraine Krings and Thelma Miner; brothers, Ray, Gale and Amer Miner.
Funeral services were held Saturday 20 March 1999 at Goodrich Funeral Home in Durand. Pastor Bernie Setterlund officiated. Music was by Sandra Anderson. Casket bearers were: Adam Hovland, James Hoveland, John Hovland, Robert Hovland, Walter L. Hovland, and Daniel Seipel. Burial was in Maxville Cemetery, Maxville Township, Buffalo County. Arrangements by Goodrich Funeral Home, Durand.

She married (2) LEON FREDRICK COTTER 17 August 1969 in Vacaville, Solano County, California, son of GEORGE COTTER and ELLA PHILLIPS. He was born 26 January 1917 in Olathe, Montrose County, Colorado.
