HEA JEAN HASE:
Rhea Jean Hase the first of three children born to Hartzel and Bernice (Minder) Hase. She was born on 28 March 1933 in Union Township, Wisconsin.

Pierce County Herald--Rhea Heppner had appreciated the business potential of the property on the corner of Highways 29 & 63 for some time before purchasing it. Rhea, a native of Maiden Rock, drove by often but was already operating Red Barn Antiques in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Finally, in 1983, after thriving for 15 years in Eau Claire, Rhea's wish to develop the property outside of Spring Valley was granted! The old schoolhouse standing at the western corner of the land was moved to its present location where, after many custom renovations it now functions as a unique, beautiful residence. The swampy area to the west became a scenic duck pond and the barn itself which houses the antique mall, store and cafe, was erected.

Rhea now works side by side with her daughters Brenda and Bernadine and her mother Bernice (this was written a few years ago) operating the Red Barn Antique Mall and Country Cafe. And although each is very busy managing their aspect of the enterprise the 3 generations always find time to share a laugh and lighten the load.

Notes for R
OBERT HEPPNER:
Pierce County Herald, 17 June 1998--Fishing done in style from new Martell 'park'---Fishing enthusiasts have long accessed the Rush River from near the Hwy. 63 bridge in Martell Township. But because of the efforts of Bob Heppner of rural Maiden Rock, they'll now feel more welcome at their special spot. Heppner has transformed land he owns along the river and adjacent to the highway into "Tyson Park." His property features picnic tables, campfire pits and a parking area for the public. "All I ask is that anyone who wants to use it take their garbage with them when they leave," he said last Thursday. Heppner is acquainted with several of the fishermen who frequent the site, as they're also customers at the Red Barn County Cafe and Antique Mall he operates just northeast of there. He decided to improve his Martell parcel for the public's benefit, with the blessing of wife Rhea. Last summer, he bagan clearing brush from the three lots, which he bought from the county several years ago. Once he got the area cleaned up, he poured a cement slab large enough to anchor three picnic tables. He installed the pits and created the parking lot, finishing the work this spring. "People always used to park on the road...now they don't have to," he said. Heppner's 10 year-old grandson, Tyler Jaquish, helped occasionally with the project. While they discussed the idea of naming the park one day, the youngster suggested it be named after him, and his grandfather agreed. The name's appropriate because the fifth grader is quite a fisherman himself, the proud grandad said, known to even show city visitors how to catch trout from the Rush. Jaquish is the son of Heppner's daughter Beradine and her husband Jay of rural Spring Valley.
