Virgil graduated from Durand High School in 1949. He served in the United States Air Force from 1950-1953, and was stationed in Denver, Colorado, and in the Panama Canal Zone. He received his B.A. degree from the University of California at Long Beach in 1957, and his M.A. from Chapman College, in Orange, California, in 1966. Virgil and Kay were divorced in 1980.

Virgil in 1988 lived in LaHabra, California. He has been a principal of an elementary school in the El Rancho Unified School District for eighteen years (as of 1988). Prior to this he taught fifth and sixth grades for thirteen years.

Notes for EUGENE STORMER:
Eugene was born 10 September 1931 in Cincinnati, Ohio, son of Willard H. and Edna E. (Salmon) Stormer of Cincinnati. Eugene graduated from Western Hills High School in 1948. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1951-1954. He served in Korea in 1951-1952, and later in Japan. He received his B.A. degree in 1960 from California State University of Long Beach, and in 1962, received his M.A. degree from there in English.

In 1988 they lived in Huntington Beach, California. Gene taugh in the Garden Grove, California Unified School System where he has been the Department Chairman of the English Department for twenty years.

In 1970 the Stormers spent six weeks in Europe where Eugene was lecturing in various universities. They were in Austria for two weeks and Betty said she was very impressed with the Austrian scenery. She believes it to be the "most beautiful country in Europe." She inquired there about people of the name of "Biederman" and was told the name is German (not Austrian). Betty was not aware at that time that the name was "Bitterman" before it was changed in America.
