Notes for T
WILA COLLEEN PETERSON:
Twila Colleen was the second child born to Lloyd and Kitty Peterson, on 3 October 1948 in Red Wing, Minnesota. Sunday night at 11:25 p.m., weight: 7 lbs, 14 1\2 ounces, and 21 inches long.
She attended schools in Houston, Texas until her junior year in high school when the family moved to Maquoketa, Iowa. It has been told that Twila loved school and that on the first day of school when Kitty took her to school she turned to her mother and told her to go home she didn't need her there. When she was in the fifth grade Twila's mom was visiting another one of the children's teachers when Mr. Jung, Twila's teacher, saw Kitty and stopped her in the hall. He was almost in tears as he asked her what he was going to do with Twila, she loved to talk and was driving the poor man crazy.

Upon the move to Iowa Twila entered Maquoketa High School and it was a hard adjustment from a southern school to a northern school. The students and teachers had a hard time understanding her talk because of her accent and she too had a hard time understanding some of their phrases. But before too long she was saying "you guys" right along with the rest of them. Ya'll was soon forgotten.

After graduating from high school in 1967 Twila lived with her aunt and uncle, Bud and Mavis Peterson until the next fall when she then moved to Portland, Oregon to attend Conquerors Bible College, where she met, Leon, her husband.

They were married on 5 September 1969 in Ellsworth, Wisconsin, then returned to Portland for Twila's senior year in college. She graduated from college on 6 June 1970. In August of that year she and Leon moved to Wisconsin where they still reside.

They have two children, a son and daughter. She taught school at Faith Academy Christian School in rural Bay City for three years. She then home schooled her children for a total of ten years.

Since April of 1993 Twila has been the clerk of Isabelle Township. In October of 1996 she went to work for West Publishing in Red Wing, Minnesota, now West Group, as they were bought out by the Thompson Corporation.

Her hobbies and interests include: reading, crocheting, sewing, yard work, gardening, raising raspberries, doing cross word puzzles, cake decorating and genealogy. She was active in the 4-H program, with the Maiden Rock Rockets. She was the Pierce County 4-H Adult Advisors president, vice-president, and advisor, on the drama committee for two years and the cake decorating leader for her club for 12 years.

Notes for L
EON JOE PAYNE:

He moved around during his school years attending schools in Oklahoma, Oregon and Washington. He graduated from Tolt High School in 1964 in Carnation, Washington.

After graduation he worked for a lumber company until being drafted into the U.S. Army in 1965. His basic training was at Ford Ord, California, then he was sent to Korea (had all of his equipment except rifle and boots to be sent to Viet Nam and his orders were changed at the last minute). He stayed thirteen months in Korea and spent the rest of his stint in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

While in Colorado Springs he met a man by the name of James Lemmons who introduced him to the Lord. After his discharge from the Army he attended Conquerors Bible College in Portland, Oregon where he met his future wife, Twila.

In 1970 Leon and Twila moved to Ellsworth, Wisconsin to be near Twila's family. Leon worked for Melby Modula for several years and then went to work for Meyer Industries in Hager City, Wisconsin and for the past twenty-two years has worked for Mycogen (formerly Jacques Seeds).
