Captain Michael Pierce was born in England and emigrated to America about 1645, Locating first at Hingham, Mass. in 1646, the following year he moved to Scituate. He was born about 1615 and was killed by the Indians in 1676. He may have been a younger brother of Captain William Pierce of London. His first wife was probably a daughter of Anthony Ames of Hingham; she died 1662 and he married about 1663, Mrs. Anna James. Widow James and family lived in Marshfield in 1650; she had a son Mark, and her daughter Abigail married Charles, born 1638, son of John Stockbridge.

A recent genealogy states that the widow of John Allen was the second wife of Michael Pierce and survived him. John Allen, 30, husbandman, and his wife Anne, 30, came over in the "Abigail," 1635. They were from Herne Hill, Kent, England; he settled first in Plymouth, sold his land in 1641 and moved to Scituate, Mass.

This compiler thinks the later genealogy is more correct. I think the name Ames is a misprint of the name James, having lost the J. The !1st wife being James the 2nd being Allen. He served in the military between 1673 and 1676 in Plymouth Colony, Massachusetts.⁽²³¹⁾
