Obituary:

William H Babcock was born near Mason City, Mason County, Illinois, June 17, 1854. Died Decenber 25, 1914, at Ipava, Illinois, where he had been for the past year caring for his invalid uncle. He was run down by a train at 3 AM that morning while going to meet relatives on same train, and received injuries which proved fatal in the after noon of same day. He was conscious and able to tell how it happened, he slipped and fell and couldn't get up before the train was able to stop and was upon him.

When a small boy, he moved with his parents to Fulton County, Illinois, where he grew to manhood.

On February 6, 1876, he was married to Clara Carter at Ipava, Illinois. To this union were born 11 children, eight of whom survive him. His wife preceded him in death, January 25, 1909. He was the son of Henry and Julia Babcock.

His body was taken to Cambridge, Nebraska, for burial, his old home where most of his children live. Funeral services were conducted in the Congregational Church, Rev. A. D. Burress officiating. He was married to Clara Jane Carter on Feb 6 1876 in Ipava, IL. See obituaries

15. Clara Jane Carter was born on Nov 30 1859 in Zanesville, Ohio. She died on Jan 25 1909 in Cambridge, NE. She has reference number 130. Died of dropsy.

Obituary:

Clara J. Carter was born near Zanesville, Ohio, November 30, 1859 and died January 25, 1909. With her parents, William and Barbara J. Carter she came to Fulton County, Illinois, in the year 1865. At the age of 14 she was left an orphan.On Feb. 6, 1876, she was married to W.H. Babcock at Ipava, Illinois. To this union, eleven children were born, 8 of whom are living. All were at her bedside when she passed away.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. R. Simpson of the Congregational Church assisted by D.A. Leaper of the M.E. Church, internment in the Fairview Cemetery, Cambridge, Nebraska. Children were:
