EREMIAH COLLIER:

The Collier Family ancesters came to the United States from Scotland sometime in the 1600's. Landed in Maine, then migrated to Tennessee and then to Indiana.
A farmer by profession, he enrolled as a Private in Company H, 70th Regiment of Indiana Volunteer Infantry to engage in the Civil War for the Union Army, on August 2, 1863 at the age of 15. His unit engaged in battles at Russelville, Resacca, Cassville, New Hope Church, Lost Mountian, Kenesaw, Marietta, Peach Tree Creek, Atlanta, Savanna and Bentonville. He was discharged June 8, 1865 near Washington D.C. at the conclusion of hostilities. He stood 5' 6" tall, had a sandy complection, blue eyes and light colored hair. According to Captain L.S. Hatley, his Commanding Officer, "Jeremiah was one of the best private soldiers " in his command. "He was always brave and trustworthy in his duty. As a `sharp shooter' he took the greatest hazzard in the war but never shirked duty assigned him." from The Republican Newspaper of Martinsville, Morgan County,Ind.
Government records dated 1888 indicate that he was entitled to a pension as an invalid.
"Roll No. 5398. Army Voucher No.___
Jeremiah Collier, Pension Certificate No. 198093, dated 27th day of Nov. 1888, served as a Private in Company H, 70th Regiment Ind. Name is inscribed on the rolls of the Indianapolis agency, at the rate of Twenty-five dollars. Signed, A.O.Marsh, U.S.Pension Agent, Indianapolis, Ind."

Jeremiah Collier, a Private of Capt. Ambrose D. Cunning, Co.H, 70th Reg. of Indiana Inf. Vol. who inrolled on the 2nd day of August 1862 to serve 3 years or during the war is hereby discharged from the service of the U.S. this 8th day of June 1865 at `near Washington D.C.' by reason of G.O.77 UGOV inslvuchcris UG Om az9(41865 (? due to inability to read clearly this paper) signed by Robert E. Buchin, Capt. aagucm 3o Dis. 20 Corps.

NNA RETTA ADAMS:
Possibaly born in Alliance, Ohio.
Had a sister named Clara M.Johnson,that lived at 256 1/2 N. Liberty Street, Alliance, Stark County, Ohio whos children named Wesley, Ada (Jennings),Maggie, Eda, Orion, Mary and Cora.
Had brothers named John C. Adams, L.J. Adams of McLoud, Ok., W.S.Adams and E.L.Adams who owned and operated the "Adams Brothers Well Drilling and Tiling Company with offices in Oklahoma City, McLoud and Shawnee, Ok. They manufactured cement well tile.
Clara died at age 72 from Peumonia and ulcerated stomach.
a letter from T.J.Adams to Anna mentioned a "sister Clarinda" which could possibaly be Clara's given name. Anna was a school teacher.
It is believed that she was a decendent of the President's Adams, am now searching for proof of that.
