THIRD GENERATION

4. Edward Charles QUIGG JR.(1) Photo was born on 29 May 1916 in Valparaiso, IN. He died on 14 Jan 1999 in Calumet City, Il. Edward used many memorable "pet Phrases" like: Son of a sea cook ... something went
wrong

... than a cat's hind end ... something was neat

Hog's ass & Hominy ... Ham & Hominy

Shit on a shingle ... chipped beef on toast

He often used the word "cheaters" for eyeglasses

He also had his favorite stories: While eating dinner his mother told him to go out on the porch and bring in the banana cream pie she had baked. Edward saw it on the floor right in front of the doorway, but pretended he didn't see it and couldn't find it. Exasperated, his brother LeRoy got up, walked over to the porch, pushed edward aside and stepped right in the pie.

During the war kids would go around collecting and gathering copper which could be turned in for money. Edward loved to tell the story of how LeRoy spent months collecting copper and had gathered a huge amount of copper which he rolled into a ball. Edward stole it from LeRoy and sold it himself.

Edward enlisted in the Army during W.W. II because he felt guilty believing that people would talk about the fact that he was young and healthy but not defending his country. He didn't even tell his wife Roslyn until after he enlisted. He was married to Roslyn Mae BERG on 2 Jul 1943 in Appleton, Wisconsin.

5. Roslyn Mae BERG Photo was born on 27 Sep 1923 in Town of Maine, WI. She died on 15 Mar 1993 in Scottsdale, AZ. She was baptized into the LDS church on 4 Dec 1999 in the Salt Lake LDS temple. She LDSConfirmation on 4 Dec 1999 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was endowed on 11 Dec 1999 in the Salt Lake LDS temple. She was sealed to parents on 11 Jul 2000 in the Ogden Utah LDS temple. While taking Roslyn's ashes across country to be buried in Appleton we stopped at many of Roslyn's friends. A frequent comment made by these friends was that she will be missed and that she was a good listener. Roslyn was a terrific sales-lady in womans clothing. She had also worked in sales at "Star Sales", a store similar to a mini - K - Mart in Whiting IN for many years. She was a beautiful lady and I am proud to have her as a mother.
