The record for Joseph is from the records of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur
Marshall of Maryville, TN. She is a direct descendant of Joseph
Hauff. They found the original tombstone in a ditch near the small
cemetery by the Susong memorial church. This author visited the
cemetrey in Oct 1990 with minnie Reynolds who was raised on the hill
above the cemetery in the early 1900's. The stone was still in the
ditch and now quite unreadable.
Granville W. Hough's book lists on page 131 Joseph Huff, born
1781, and wife Margaret were living with son Eli in Greene Co., TN The
will of Joseph Huff (Hauff) 7 June 1852 $900 Wife, Margaret, to use
and distribute furniture of every kind, 7 sheep, horses, cows etc.
wheat to be cleaned. Children: Elias, Barbary Rader, Sally Welty,
Peter and Elizabeth Welty, Andrew Jackson and William Huff. (Elias
Welty has inability). Executors: William Hauff, son-in-law William
Rader, William B. Hudson, Alfred Brumley. Will dated: 20 February
1852. Witnesses: William B. Hutson, Cla?na? Kifer. signed: Joseph
Hauff (his mark x) He was married to Margaret.

67. Margaret was born in 1785 in Pennsylvania. Children were:

v. Peter Huff was born on 21 Aug 1810 in Keezletown, Rockingham Co, VA. ⁽⁵⁸⁾ He died on 27 Sep 1889 in Hauff, Greene Co, TN. He was buried in Hauff cem, near Hunt's chap.⁽⁵⁹⁾
vi. Andrew Jackson Huff was born in 1816 in Greene Co., TN.
vii. William Huff was born on 14 Jun 1818.⁽⁶⁰⁾ He died on 17 Feb 1883 in Timber Ridge, Greene Co, TN.
