Notes for W
ILLIAM ALEXANDER BRABHAM:
[]

These notes came from Kerry Brabham Derrick and Kerry got these from information compiled by Alta (Brabham) Knopp on Febuary 1981 and given to Kerry's father William Wilbert Brabham.

William A. Brabham married Amy Oliver, who was of Penna Dutch descent. Their children were: Sarah, Delikah, Martha, Jefferson, Edward Melros, Mandy, Henrietta, Lucinda and Lucy. A son died of diptheria. Edward Melros was Alta and William W.'s grandfather. Alta is the daughter of John Brabham, brother to Clovis.

The following is taken from a Times Regional Editor, Burns Harlan:

There is an old Brabham Cemetry in Warren Township, near Marrietta, Ohio. It is located along what is now Ohio 676 Watertown Rd.
William's history of Washington County (1881), says in 1856, at the death of Lucy D. Brabham, Walter Brabham fenced off for cemetry purpose a finely located lot on the Lancaster road. It adds that the property was owned by Brabham and given to public use untill 1877 when the Warren Township Cemetry Asso. was founded and the lot transferred to it.

Lucy D. Brabham's monument shows she was the daughter of W. (William) & M. (Maria) Brabham, born May 29, 1847 and died June 11, 1856. Next to Lucy D. Brabham's monument is that of Walter and Maria which says he was born Sept. 29, 1812 and died Feb. 14, 1882 and she was born March 28, 1814 and died Nov. 21, 1874. It also sasys they both were natives of Virginia.

Both William's and Andrews's histories contain brief biographies of Brabham. Born Loudoun County, Virginia, he received his early education in the common schools of that County and began the study of law with William Benton.

In 1835, he moved to Ohio, first in Morgan County and afterward to Washington County where he was engaged several years in teaching, merchandising and farming.

In 1859, after he completed a course of law study undre the preceptorship of Davis Green, he was admitted to the bar and practiced law untill his death.

William Brabham was elected prosecuting attorney in 1867 and re-elected in 1871, serving untill 1873.
