Woods Accident Fatal to Logger: John Alfred Stanley, 34 of Elmira, was fatally injured when struck by a falling limb monday, at logging operations of the V. W. Logging company, Elmira. He died several hours later at a hospital in Eugene. Born July 8, 1910 at Wagner, Oklahoma, he came to Eugene in 1936 from Blunt, South Dakota. He was married to Miss Helen Brabham at Corvallis, May 10, 1937. Hed had worked for his present employers for the past year, and previously had worked for seven years for Glenhaven Dairy. He is survived by his wife; three children, Evelyn, Lucille and Harold, all of Elmira; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Stanley, Maloy, Iowa; three brothers, George, and Clarence Stanley, both with the U. S. Army in France, and James in Iowa; two sister, Mrs. Bertha Lehrcamp of Lebanon, South Dakota, and Miss Ola Stanley in Illinois; his grandfather, John Rosenburg, in Illinois; and uncle, Clarence Stanley, Harrold, South Dakota. Funeral services will be held later, upon word from relatives, arrangements to be announced though the Poole-Larsen Mortuary.

Walter D. Roberts of 88876 Territorial Rd., Elmira died Sunday April 3 at the age of 67. He was born september 8, 1909 in Garden City, Kansas and had been a resident of this vicinity for most of his life. He is survived by his wife, Helen; three children, Walter W. and David G. , both of Portland,and Betty K. fuson of Port Angeles, Washington; three step-children, Evelyn M. Edwards of Florance, Lucille M. Reid of Eugene and Harold A. Stanley of Elmira; two sisters, Pearl Packer of Reno, Nevada and Edith Sturfill of Bremerton, Washington; a brother, Delbert Roberts of Marysville, Washington; and numerous grandchildren. two children, Donald l. and Shirley J. preceded him in death. Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 6 in the Poole-Larsen Chaple with Rev. Kenneth Brown of Elmira Open Bible Church officiating. Private entombment was at West Lawn Memorial Park.
