John Rennie (son of John Rennie and Marion Watt Luke) was born 15 April 1931 in Elsie Inglis Hospital, Edinburgh. He married Margaret Joyce Kay on 20 October 1951 in Leith Registry Office, daughter of Robert Proudfoot Kay and Veronica Julia Connelly.

Lived most of early life at 18 Thorntree Street, Leith.
Served apprenticeship at Brown Brothers, Rosebank Ironworks, as a toolroom fitter.
Served in RAF from May 1952, till May 1954, as airframe mechanic, lived in York.
Returned to Brown Brothers, till joining ICL in 1959 as service engineer.
Joined Friden Business Machines in December 1962 as service engineer, became manager in 1967.
Joined Ultronic Data Systems as Scottish Manager in June 1970, later became Regional Manager.
Joined Busitron as salesman in April 1987.
Formed Right Type Office Equipment with three others, became Chairman in 1993.
Retired December 1995.
