NICOLAS PATENAUDE (b. Abt. 1626, d. 13 Feb 1678/79)

NICOLAS PATENAUDE (son of NICOLAS PATENOSTRE and ADRIENNE SIMON) was born Abt. 1626 in BERVILLE-en-CAUX, NORMANDIE, FRANCE, and died 13 Feb 1678/79 in MONTMORENCY QUE.. He married MARGUERITE BRETON on 30 Oct 1651 in QUEBEC CITY QUEBEC, daughter of ANTOINE BRETON and XAINTE JEANNE POULIN.

Notes for NICOLAS PATENAUDE:
Nicolas learned the trade of cloth merchant, which he apparently never practiced. He was 22 years old when he decided to come to New France. Everything implies that upon his arrival in Quebec about 1650, he was in the service of Charles Sevestre, who was a clark of the warehouse of Quebec, Private Lieutenant of the senschaussee and Provost Judge. Charles Sevestre was the first principal witness to the marriage contract of Nicolas on 25 Oct 1651.
At hte house of the notary audouart, the bride was supported by the mistress of the house, son-in-law Jean Paul Godefroy, son Jean Baptiste Legardeur and daughters Marie Madeleine and Catherine. On the side of Nicolas Patenostre were Charles Sevestre and Marie Pichon, his wife, Denis Duguet and Catherine Gauthier. Nicolas offered the customary dowry. The two agreed to a preciput of 100 livres before division of property of said community, Margerite Breton signed.
