 Includes NotesNotes for RICHARD ESTES:
On 1 April 1711 land was laid out to Richard Estes by the proprietors of Mendon. Fourteen acres more or less of the twenty acres of the Staples fifth division, was laid out at the south end of hopp Brook Cedar Swamp. On 10 February 1745 another lot containing three acres of Ebenezer Cooke's tenth division joined his other land in bellingham. On 15 March 1742 Elijah Cook and wife Joanna of Bellingham for L520 deed to Richard Estes of Lynn, cordwainer, their homestead farm whereupon they lived containing by estimation, 80 acres.
The same date Ebenezer Cooke pf Mendon, for L10 deed to Richard Estes of Lynn, cordwainer, four acres of land in Mendon and joining to Bellingham line. And also two acres of land to be loaned or taken up in the common land in the township of Mendon.
Evidently it was Richard, son of Matthew, and uncle of Richard of cumberland, who first owned the Mendon land in 1711, four years before Richard's birth, and as matthew does not mention his son Richard in his will of 1723 it is probable that he died before that date, and the land came into the possession of his nephew Richard, which undoubtedly caused him to settle in Cumberland, R.I.
