JOHN WITHERSPOON (b. 04 May 1785, d. 28 Jul 1867)

JOHN WITHERSPOON (son of WILLIAM WITHERSPOON and MARY) was born 04 May 1785 in IRELAND, and died 28 Jul 1867 in BEAVER CO. FRANKFORT SPRINGS, PA.. He married MARGARET KENNEDY on 18 Nov 1813 in BEAVER, PA., daughter of SAMUEL KENNEDY and FRANCES BOALS.

Notes for JOHN WITHERSPOON:
He was a farmer and also operated what was then called a "drover's stand". Animals had to be driven on foot in those days from one place to another. Frankfort Springs was on the trail west from Pittsburgh to West Virginia and Ohio, He maintained pens where the animals could "stand" overnight and be fed and watered.
In his last years John was taken care of by his daughter Drusilla Morehead.
