He came from a Prominent Lawrence Co. Family.
He was a member of the Pittsburg lodge of Elks. And a member of the Mahoningtown M.E. Church.

obit: Robert M. Rhodes.
After a long illness of Bright's disease, Robert M. Rhodes, a member of a prominent Lawrence county family, passed away Monday February 7, 1908 at his residence, 318 West Madison Avenue. He had been at the hospital for some weeks, but medical treatment had failed to prolong his life. He was one of the Seventh ward's best known citizens, and a man widely known and respected.
Mr. Rhodes was born and spent his early life at Wampum. Later, he went to Pittsburg, where he lived for 15 years and was an engineer on the Fort Wayne railroad. He came to this city about 6 years ago, and until his health failed, held a clerical position with the Baltimore & Ohio railroad. He was a member of the Pittsburg lodge of Elks, and also of the Mahoningtown M.E. church. He was about 50 years of age. He had many relatives in this city and vicinity, besides scores of warm personal friends.
Surviving him are his wife, Mrs. Rebecca (Wallace) Rhodes, and two sons, Charles and Frederick of Pittsburg, a brother W. H. Rhodes of Pittsburg, one sister, Mrs. Mary Wolfe of Chewton, and a half-brother, Dr. Rhodes of Chewton.
The funeral services will be held at the late residence at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning, and the remains will be taken to Allegheny for interment in Uniondale cemetery.
