STEPHEN WILLIAMS (b. 1769, d. 30 Jul 1851)
STEPHEN WILLIAMS (son of NEHEMIAH WILLIAMS and ELIZABETH ELSIE GALLUP) was born 1769 in WILLIAMSTOWN, MA, and died 30 Jul 1851 in WILLIAMSTOWN, MA. He married SARAH FULLER on Abt. 1788 in WILLIAMSTOWN, MA.

Died while residing with his son Albert.
Stephen was willed one-eighth of his father's 430 acres, about 54 acres.
Divided lots, on 6 Jan 1794. Stephen's farm was located on the Northwest Hill Road, by the so called Buxton Chruch and combined school house for the residents of the Northwest Hill farming community.
Stephen was 12 years old when he enlisted as a private in the 3rd. Berkshire Co., regiment for the alarm at Saratoga, N.Y. for two days service.
Owned several other lots of land in the Northwest Hill area as well as on Birch Hill, which by 1972 had become incorporated in the present day Hopkins Memorial State Forest, in Northwest Williamstown, Ma.
He also received one half of his mother's Elizabeth Williams farm and house, with the obligation to care and provide for her. From 1794 to 1800, Stephen's brothers Robert, Constant and Zabin, along with there sister Martha's husband, Lemuel Landere sold there own land and their inherited lands. After which they all removed to Bradford Co., Pennsylvania. While Stephen remained in Williamstown, Ma., with his mother and his own family and continued to buy additinal farm land. Stephen was a farmer for half of his life, and also was a shoemaker in his later years, his wife Sarah was a member of the Congregational Church of Williamstown.
