JOHN SMEDLEY (son of SAMUEL SMEDLEY and ESTHER KILBOURN) was born 04 Jan 1730/31 in LITCHFIELD, CT., and died 1801. He married DELIVERANCE HUMPHREY on 08 Aug 1753 in GOSHEN, CT., daughter of SAMUEL HUMPHREY and MARY ORTON.

In a meeting in FEB 1768 it was decided not to sue John for not properly making a bridge over Broad Brook (the brook he used for his saw mill).

Private, Captain Samuel Clark's Co., Col. John Brown's (Berkshire Co.) regiment, entered service 30 Jun 1777, discharged 24 Jul 1777, 25 days, company called out by Brig. Gen. Fellows at request of Major Gen. Schuyler and order to march to Fort Ann. Roll certified at Williamstown, Ma.
