Notes for JOHN ESTES: John was a yeoman, removed with his father from Portsmouth, NH to Salem, Ma., thence a few years to Lynn, Ma., prior to his death. On 8 May 1713, while in Salem, he deeds to Major John Turner of Salem, a merchant, all his rights in the commonage and undivided lands in said town accuring and becoming due him by virtue of a vote of said Salem, 16 Jun 1702. 7 Aug 1723, then of Lynn, for L197 deeds to Joseph Brownell of Portsmouth, R.I. 20 acres at Sagamore Hill, which was given him by his father, 3 May 1704. John was a Quaker, as were the Bassetts and Hoods, and all signed the letter attesting to same on, 22 Jun 1703, which is given in the Bassett Family account.
