CHILLINGSWORTH FOSTER (b. 11 Jul 1680, d. 22 Dec 1764)

CHILLINGSWORTH FOSTER (son of JOHN FOSTER and MARY CHILLINGSWORTH) was born 11 Jul 1680 in MARSHFIELD, MASS., and died 22 Dec 1764 in HARWICH, BARNSTABLE, MASS.. He married SUSANNAH GRAY on 10 Aug 1721, daughter of JOHN GRAY and SUSANNAH CLARKE.

Notes for CHILLINGSWORTH FOSTER:
Settled in part of Harwich, Ma., which is now Brewster, Ma. Came to Harwich, Ma 1697-1699. Like his father and grandfather he was a blacksmith and instructed some of his sons in the same craft.
Served the church many years as a deacon, starting 4 Jul 1731.
Selectman 9 years, treasurer 25 years, town clerk 28 years, representative 8 years.
Went by the nickname of "Tilley". Third wife had 9 children, the eldest being 20 and it is family tradition that her children and his children from prevoius marriages got along very nicely under the same roof.
