Oct 31, 1752: Williamstown, Ma; Ezekiel Hinds of Stockbridge, Ma sells house lot # 1 at Fort Massachusetts (West Hoosac, later Williamstown to Samuel Smedley of Litchfield, Ct for 27 pounds. His son Nehemiah Smedley vists site and land is deeded to Nehemiah 1758, Nehemiah lives at site, later 5 brothers and 4 sisters join him at West Hoosac. (renamed Williamstown in 1765).

Great pond is now known as Bantam Lake.
